Recipe For Guitar Stand (Includes Photos of Using The Laser)
I stated with a design from an Instructibles laser cut wooden guitar stand, which I downloaded. I purchased a 25 inch by 18 inch Optix Extruded Acrylic sheet and found that it was 0.1 inches thick with a caliper. The original design was glued together, but I didn't want to use any glue or any material besides the Acrylic, so I added 0.1 inch slots to some of the sides and extruded ridges on the back piece, so the ridges could fit in the slots and the structure would be stable. The outlines of the updated design are thicker in the screen grab to increase visibility.

With the water bottle, I took a silhouetted photo of a Gibson Les Paul, and isolated the headstock, neck, and body. I angled the guitar and stretched it a long distance. Then I divided the neck by intervals of the circumference, which I found my using a caliper to measure the diameter and multiplying it by Pi, so the neck would create the appearance of rapping around the water bottle. I moved all the sections of the neck to be in line vertically above the body, and added the headstock back to the end of the neck. I then added a silhouette amp and my name to finish off the design and laser engraved in a rotary jig.

For the notebook, I started by turning a photo of the Beatles's Abby Road cover into a silhouette, but because it was square, I had to extend the lines of the stripes of the road to fit the dimensions of the notebook. For the back, I took the cover of Appetite For Destruction by Guns and Roses, made it a silhouette, and placed it in the center of the art-board. Then I laser engraved the designs onto a piece of mat-board and laser cut mat-board around the boarders of the covers and around my name on the front cover.
